The HAJHADT Certificate in Hijama Cupping Therapy (Level 2 & 3) is specifically designed to develop practical skills in providing wet or dry cupping also known as Arabic cupping. (Using disposable equipment only)


Course purpose:  To develop learner’s skills in providing Hijama Cupping Therapy to a high level of occupational ability to enable learners provide own services or challenge work in this field.


Underpinning Knowledge:  Sound understanding of Hijama, knowledge of health and safety within Hijama practice, First aid, Client care and communication, related anatomy and physiology and mapping illness anatomy and points.

Course Progression: HAJHADT Level 4 Certificate in Hijama Cupping Therapy, nutrition, any other complementary or Ayurvedic medicine to complement learning will be an added advantage for both clients and your practice. A Start Your Own Business course would also be an added advantage to people new to business. Learners can start treatment their friends and family with this course. 


Hijama course outline

A preparation for work unit based on capability and knowledge. This unit is about the skills involved in providing Hijama cupping Therapy. Two types of Hijama techniques will be learnt with various point and learners will be required to adapt their points to suit individual client needs and illness. Learners will also learn about health & safety, client care & communication, related anatomy & physiology so as mapping illness anatomy and points.

Unit 201

A, Background to Hijama.

B, Understanding Hijama and Cupping therapy. Sunnah or cupping.

C, Effects of Hijama cupping therapy. Why, How, When, where and How?

D, Know your instruments, examples of illnesses and associated points.                                                                                                                                                 

At this juncture, all learners must be insured before proceeding to the next stage. The concluding part of this unit will be after the completion of unit 2 (health and safety).

E, Preparing for Hijama, what you must know and Aftermaths.

F, How to make incisions and practical exercise one fellow learner.

G. 5 Case studies, with short exams and portfolio of evidence. Insurance

Unit 202,

This unit enable Learners develop skills in suppervisory role focusing on health and safety of their practice be it in your home, clinic or mobile in client’s home.

Learners will be able to recognize potential hazards, carry out risk assessments on clients and the place of work and then implement the necessary actions. Learners will be able to monitor and support everyone working for them or with them and other people around them to ensure health and safety requirements is in place at all times and as required by the insurance.

Monitor and maintain health and safety within Hijama practice.

A, Setting up before client, during treatment and clearing up

B, Consultation, planning, points allocations, risk assessment and insurance.

C, Possible contra-indications, accidents and records.

Treatment adaptation, evaluation and aftercare advice.


Unit 301

This unit is about client care and communication in Hijama and related industries. The ability to adapt the provision of client care and communication skills to the needs of different clients will be developed as well as learn how to manage their expectations

A.  Understanding Communication before and after illnesses.

B.  Effective communication technique

C.  Adopting professional manners in dealing with clients and managing client’s expectations.                                                                    

 Unit 304 Learner-based research and group work.

This section provides learners with adequate guidance on the recommended knowledge and skills required to enable learners achieve each of the learning outcomes in this unit. The tutor/assessor will recap on the unit to ensure learners did the research and were able to label structure, list at least 2 functions,2, diseases and 2 disorder from each group. Learner will be able to link diseases to structure and use appropriate point to treat illness.

Related anatomy and physiology and mapping illness to anatomy and points.

1, The skin, the bone/ skeletal structure, Muscle functions, Cardiovascular system structure, Lymphatic system structure, Nervous system structure, Digestive system structure, Urinary system structure, Endocrine system structure, the reproductive system structure their functions, diseases and disorders associated with them.

2, Using given cupping points, learners should be able to map illness/diseases to structure and draw appropriate charts for cups positioning. 


*Certificate requirement: A valid First aid certificate is a must before certified


HAJHADT Practitioner’s Certificate in Hijama Cupping Therapy (Level 4) is specifically designed to develop higher practical skills in providing all types of Cupping Therapy, Hijama (Arabic Sunnah wet cupping) Chinese wet cupping, Technology cupping, dry cupping and massage cupping. (Using different types of equipment). Medicine of the prophet (SAW) and other remedies across cultures.

Course purpose: To develop learner’s skills in providing Hijama Cupping Therapy to a higher level of occupational ability to enable them provide own services or challenge work in this field.

Underpinning Knowledge: Sound understanding of Sunna Hijama and new age technology cupping, knowledge of health and safety, First aid, Client care and communication, related anatomy and physiology, mapping illness to anatomy and points, Medicine of the prophet (SAW) and other remedies across cultures.

Course Progression:  Any other complementary therapy to complement learning and added advantage to both clients and your practice. Professional Practice PgDip/MSc. A Start Your Own Business course would also be an added advantage to people new to business but those confident enough can start their own clinic or mobile therapy. 

HAJHADT Practitioner’s Certificate in Hijama Cupping Therapy (Level 4). Learners starting directly from this level will undergo every unit in level 2 & 3 plus level 4 units. Learners who already achieved the level 3 qualification will move on to complete the additional units to be certified.

 Unit 405. Lessons shall be taken from analyzing health and safety issues from learners’ experience in client’s home and in your clinic or home. Were you fully in control? If not, why and if yes, why? Is there anything you can do to improve this?                                         

Unit 406. Lessons shall be taken from learners’ relevant experiences and issues in communication encountered in their work experience.                                                                                     

Unit 407. Learners will learn to create relevant points for treatments from each structure using the given cupping points charts and explain why.                                                                                                       

Unit 408.   Introduction to Technology cupping, uses, advantages and disadvantages

Unit 409.   Community clinical practice with 20 observed case studies, portfolio,

Unit 410.  Research into 10 illnesses their causes, signs & symptoms, conventional medication, remedies and side effects.
